When this photograph was selected for the section part of the Photograph of the Month competition in the October 1932 edition of Photo Times, it was attributed to SATO Makoto. TAMURA Sakae, who selected the photograph for publication, said of it, “This photograph is packed with what is good about a photographer conscious of what he is doing. I, however, found its rather grotesque quality off putting.” He also remarked that “It goes without saying that in this photograph I savored to the full the passionate human desire to create.”
