In August 1993, Cho Gil-sung, a Vietnam veteran who served in the South Korean military, was certified by the South Korean government as a patient exposed to defoliants. Peripheral nerve paralysis occurred in his extremities, and necrosis began in his toes. At the time, at the request of the United States, the total number of South Korean soldiers dispatched to the front lines of Vietnam as part of the armed forces of the allied nations was over 310,000, of whom 5,000 claimed to have suffered from atomic bombing (Seoul, May 1993).

Nguyen Thi Thai, a 25-year-old mother, holds Ha, 10 months old, who was born with missing right arm and left forearm. Ha also had a chloracne-like skin rash. Her mother was 12 years old when she was exposed to defoliant from a U.S. military plane. The organochlorine defoliant Agent Orange contained 2378-TCDD (dioxin), which is both carcinogenic and teratogenic (Tay Ninh Province, Loc Hung Village, 1981).

Kang Ju-kwan, who was sent to Da Nang as a medic for the South Korean Tiger Division, has been suffering from dermatitis for 20 years. He says that by concentrating his nerves on the tip of his brush while doing Korean calligraphy, he forget about pain and itching. His works were lined up all over the room. Under the military regime that lasted until 1992, soldiers' claims of damage were not allowed, and even news reports on the defoliant problem was suppressed in South Korea (Anyang, May 1993).

A patch of jungle in South Vietnam that withered and was wiped out by the US Air Force's 10-year defoliation campaign from 1961 to 1971 (Remains of the mangrove forest at Cape Ca Mau, 1976).

A photo left at the US Embassy in Saigon. After the embassy staff and soldiers evacuated and withdrew, confidential documents that had been incinerated were scattered inside the building. A photograph with burnt remains and peeling emulsion seemed to secretly express this war (Saigon. June 1975).

Brothers Beto and Doc (twins) were born fused at the abdomen on February 25, 1981. The birthplace of Sa Tay province in the central plateau was one of the target areas of Operation Defoliation (at Yiet Duc Hospital in Hanoi, January 1982).
