kagami コマイヌⅦ

KÜNZLI, Otto クンツリ、オットー

Kagami (Mirror), has twenty-five seals impressed with lacquer onto the underside of a plate made of bincho charcoal. It was created in collaboration with Living National Treasure lacquer master Kazumi Murose. A seal impression symbolizes the intention and resolution of its owner. It communicates a scene of presence even in the owner's absense. Künzli also noticed the qualities of bincho charcoal, with linkages of countless tubes in cross section in its interior. Likening the charcoal to a black mirror, he made a jewelry piece that connects "here" and "there".
