OKUBO Koroku 大久保好六

In this impressive work, a triangular shadow falls on the white wall of the storehouse. In this type of bromoil print, the aim is less to heighten the presence of the subject than deftly to capture the light filling the street. The edges of the buildings have been retouched to sharpen the sense of relief. The result is a distinctive style in which the girl playing in the street seems oddly detached from reality.
