This photographer was a graduate of the provisional photography program at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. While operating his own photography studio, he became a member of the Yoyosha, an art photography group, established by fellow graduates of that school, which produced many Pictorialist portraits. This work not only conveys his academic romanticism. It also captures the youthful spirit of women born in what was then a new age, the Showa era.
