100 Underwater Views of the Japanese Archipelago Kita Kojima is Japan's southernmost island. It is constantly being eroded by waves but refuses to be forgotten. To preserve Japan's exclusive economic zone around it, the goverment of Japan reinforced all four sides with concrete in 1987.
