Abraham Lincoln エイブラハム・リンカーン

Mathew B. BRADY's Studio マシュー・B. ブレイディ・スタジオ

Abraham Lincoln had been elected president in 1860. On a visit to New York to give a speech, he went to the Mathew B. Brady Studio to have his photograph taken. When lithographs based on the studio session were printed in the newspapers, they resonated with readers. This work is thought to be a tintype copy of a lithograph produced in the 1860s.

Considered a security risk because of his firsthand coverage of the NLF, Okamura was banned by the South Vietnamese government from entering the country for a period of five years. In 1971, when the ban was lifted, Okamura followed the South Vietnamese army overland during the Laos incursion. Traveling from Vietnam to Laos across jungle stripped bare by defoliant.
