A family of Japanese immigrants living in a Japanese settlement in the town of Jarabacoa in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. Emigration from Japan to the Dominican republic began in the 1950s during the regime of Rafael Trujillo, but the Japanese government's recruitment promises of grants of up to 18 hectares of good farmland and other incentives were not honored.
