Hieng (8 years old), who is congenitally blind, and his mother Bu Thi Lam (43 years old). Her father served on the Ho Chi Minh route, which was the focus of Operation Defoliation. The child was born after he was demobilized. On December 21, 1981, his mother appeared with Hieng in front of American veterans visiting Hanoi and continued to quietly protest (Hanoi, 1981).
