
Kakizawa Kenju, a former Japanese soldier who was left behind in Indochina after the end of World War II in the Pacific, joined the Anti-French Resistance but was so severely tortured by the French that he lost his memory. He made his way to Sabanket in Laos but was unable to speak and had completely forgotten his Japanese identity.
