In his exhibitions, Borofsky installs his paintings, sculptures, drawings, and sources of sound and light all over the gallery, and constructs a space that envelops the viewers. What we encounter in such a space is images from his dreams, fragments of his childhood memories, his personal messages, and his inner world itself. There, we meet various people he has created, who are all numbered:"Hammering Man," "Running Man," "Chattering Man,"... they originate from his dreams, and also are the artist himself. As the Hammering Man symbolizes the working class and also the artist himself at work, "Man with a Briefcase" represents both the businessman who fly all over the world to get contracts and the artist as he travels from gallery to gallery with his drawings in his bag. Early in his career, Borofsky stopped making art works and started the conceptual activity of counting, that is, writing down continuous numbers on sheets of paper. When he started to create again later, he kept on counting by inscribing the number he was currently at on each work. In this act, he was able to unite the conceptual side and the figurative side within himself. As a symbol of this unification, he marks his works with inscriptions of the number counted in the place of his own signature.rnrn
