NARAHARA Ikko 奈良原 一高

NARAHARA, a native of Fukuoka Prefecture, found himself in the spotlight with Human Land, an exhibition he presented while still a graduate student, in 1956. The Indian village, which is located on top of a steep-sided sandstone mesa in New Mexico, is known as Sky City. The garbage cans that appear to be floating in thin air in the village plaza are said to prevent tricks by coyotes and dogs.
