YASHIRO Toshihiro creates works by photographing himself, revolving, in a variety of places. Originally, he alone was his subject, but the series has developed into a collaborative project in which members of the general public also revolve and are photographed. People who would usually be on the viewing side of such works actively enter the picture plane and, under Yashiro’s direction, revolve. That experience inspires a deeper understanding and appreciation of the work.
